He did Electrical Engineering from Philippines and currently working as Safety Engineer at SAACIWCE. He has served the Labour and Human Resource Department for the last 20 years with a vast experience concerning occupational health and safety, besides, working at TEVTA for seven years. He has vast experience in the field of safety audits and inspections. He worked with ILO and many international firms regarding OSH. Recently he has successfully attended two weeks training courses on Occupational Safety and Health in Korea and Italy.
Dr. Arshad Mahmood
Project Director/Environmental Hygienist
Dr. Arshad Mahmood is Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences with a specialty in occupational safety and health. He has a vast experience in training on occupational safety and health, analysis of physical and chemical hazards in the workplace and accident investigation and reporting He is specialized in occupational and environmental health and toxicology. He is the author of “Punjab Occupational Safety and Health Act 2019”. He is also working with ILO, GIZ, OIC-OSHNET, and other international organizations and industries on issues pertaining to OSH. He is working as Environmental Hygienist at Centre for the Improvement of Working Conditions & Environment (CIWCE) Labour & HR Department Government of the Punjab. Dr. Arshad Mahmood has successfully attended extensive training on risk assessment and Occupational Health and Biostatistics at McGill University Canada. He worked as Ex-officio Project Director of a GSP+ centric ADP scheme titled “Capacity Building of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Regime to Promote Safer Working Conditions at Workplace”. He has intensive work experience in surveys, epidemiology and the health impact of mineral dusts like particulate matter, silica, asbestos etc. and organic dust like cotton, baggas in stone crushing grinding, cement, ceramics, and construction sectors in the Punjab. A Poster Presentation on “Prevalence of silicosis among workers employed in stone crushing and grinding sector in the province” at XXII Conference on Occupational Safety and Health at Work - Prevention in the connected age, September 20-23, 2021. Likewise two research articles have also been accepted in 23rd World Congress on Safety and Health at Work 2023 in Australia. He is lead auditor in LMS 17025, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, SA 8000 and ISO 9000: 2015.
Dr. Ejaz Ahmad
Project Director PPEs Testing Laboratory/ Toxicity assessment Centre / Sr. Occupational Toxicologist
Dr. Ejaz Ahmad has earned his Ph.D degree in Chemistry and presently serving as Project Director / Sr. Occupational Toxicologist at CIWCE. His areas of expertise including quality control, analysis, toxicity assessment, exposure assessment, chemical risk assessment, human health risk assessment, accident investigation, drugs/chemicals/metals interactions/toxicity, toxicokinetics, pharmacology, cGMPs/GLPs, method development and validation etc. He has published a number of research papers in different international journals. He has successfully completed different training courses from technologically advanced countries. He is the Auditor of GMP, ISO/IEC 17025:2005, OHSAS 18001:2007, ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2015. He has wide experience of Compliance with national and international quality, environment and labor standards. Dr Ahmad is the auditor and master trainer of cGMP, GLPs, OSH, WHO chemical safety guidelines, ICH safety guidelines, OECD chemical safety guidelines & GHS for classification and labeling of chemicals. He has an extensive experience in the fields of analytical chemistry, occupational toxicology, toxicokinetics, pharmacology, prevention of accidents and working with different international organizations like ILO, GIZ, DGUV for development of safer workplaces in Pakistan.
